Job Adjustments (4/22/11) - DRK/RNG/PUP love

I've been reading on the boards that this is a huge update for DRK. I will let the resident DRK's chime in.
[dev1010] Job Adjustments

* The forthcoming version update is scheduled to feature the following job adjustments:

o Dark Knight

+ The effect duration of the job ability Last Resort will be increased from 30 to 180 seconds.

o Ranger

+ The recast time of the job ability Bounty Shot will be reduced from 5 minutes to 1 minute, and a successful hit will occasionally enhance the effect of Treasure Hunter.
+ The job ability Barrage will launch an additional projectile at level 90.
+ Accuracy calculations for Barrage will be eased in proportion to the maximum number of shots.

o Puppetmaster

+ The following automaton attachments will be added:

Name Description
Heat Capacitor A fire-based automaton attachment.
Functionality: Erases all Fire Maneuver effects to restore TP.
Power Cooler An ice-based automaton attachment.
Functionality: Reduces MP cost in proportion to the number of Ice Maneuvers in effect.
Barrage Turbine A wind-based automaton attachment.
Functionality: Erases all Wind Maneuver effects to occasionally grant a Barrage effect.
Galvanizer A lightning-based automaton attachment.
Functionality: Increases chance of countering in proportion to the number of Thunder Maneuvers in effect.

+ The following weapon skills will be added for the Valoredge and Sharpshot frames:

Skill Name Frame Effect
String Shredder Valoredge Delivers a twofold attack.
Critical hit rate varies with TP.
Armor Shatterer Sharpshot Delivers a fourfold attack.
Additional effect: Weakens defense
Additional effect duration varies with TP.

o Job Traits

+ The following job traits will be added:

Job Trait Level Obtained* Effect
Tranquil Heart WHM Lv.21
RDM Lv.26
SCH Lv.30 Reduces enmity gain when casting healing magic.
Stalwart Soul DKN Lv.45 Reduces HP consumption when using Souleater.
Dead Aim RNG Lv.50 Improves power of critical hits for ranged attacks.


*The level indicated is that at which the trait will initially be obtained. Trait effectiveness will subsequently increase at higher levels.
+ Certain job traits will see their maximum level of effectiveness adjusted by equipment, magic, and/or job abilities.

o Other Adjustments

+ VIT will play a role in calculating damage taken from critical hits.
+ Experience point penalties when KO’d will be eased for characters level 75 and below.
At levels 1–30, the penalty will be removed entirely. At levels 31–75, the amount of XP lost will be lowered as indicated in the chart below.

You will appreciate it outside of Abyssea! I know I will, because the WHM AF3+2 pieces macroed in for Cures do not have a whit of Enmity - . The only piece that DOES is the Orison Mitts, which you macro in for Regen, Barspells and Divine Caress. I would never cure in those, Blessed Mitts/+1 are still quite superior IMO.

WHM's have been running around with such low gear Enmity lately that they were getting spoiled from Atma. The norm used to be ~25 gear Enmity, and these days it is more like 10 (Orison Cape/Blessed).

I cant imagine they will leave rdm/sch with lulz C4 all the way to 99. The litmus test will come next update to 95 when Rdm is scheduled to get T5 nukes. Right now its C4 and T4. It would be rather retarded to give them T5 nukes but still C4. Thats not a very balanced jack of any trades.

Either way, those are some really significant buffs. The drk one is particularly brutal. The rng one will make gandiva friggin retarded with jinshu's radiance and gearing for crits in abyssea with a crit based WS. The old ranged crit formula was always really odd it was so much weaker than melee weapon crits.

Drks just got zerk as a main JA and wiht desperate blows.....holy crap.

I expect this to be a rather significant update as they add more teasers for other jobs.

Also interesting. I wonder how much it reduces and also how many levels we'll get.

Also, odd to see it written as DKN there. Threw me off for a bit.

I'm casting most of my cures in ~-47% enmity as it is now. So at best i'm getting -3% enmity ........

UNLESS it stacks with enmity from gear (like the merit stratagems)

I'm hoping this is just a prelude to giving us better cures, at least it'll make us useful in abyssea.

also:

aanal: you say rdms getting t5 nukes? is this confirmed?

Great so now RDM gets sleep 1/2 dispel/break/t4/ AND t5 nukes for free, while I have to switch between light/dark arts and waste a stratagem to do any of those things, also they get 3 native MAB bonuses and some number of MDB bonuses while SCHs get 0 of each. Only upside is maybe now BLMs will bitch about RDMs outnuking them instead of SCHs.
